Fortnite Impostors

A social deduction game inside the fortntie universe

Impostors is a Fortnite Game Mode where players assume the role of Agents to maintain order at the IO’s top secret facility: The Bridge. However, the impostor(s) seek to disrupt it by eliminating and sabotaging agents while hiding their identity.

AGENTS 

Complete Assignments like calibrating chests and llamas, repairing the Battle Bus, and delivering Storm reports for analysis. Their main goal is to complete all Assignments or vote out all Impostors and claim victory for IO.

IMPOSTORS

The Impostors’ goal is to eliminate enough Agents to take control of The Bridge before being discovered. They have some tools to aid their mission:

  • Disable Assignments – Disable all available assignments until the factory gets restarted
  • Teleport Players – Relocate everyone to different locations in the map to disorient them.
  • Peely Party – For a short time, all Agents and Impostors are turned into Peely so the imposters can blend in without getting caught

Duration : 

Responsibilities:

  • Implemented condition-based networked Ghost system (alive players can’t see or hear ghosts) via UE4’s replication graph (Ghosts won’t replicate to alive players but alive players will replicate to Ghosts)
  • Implemented Impostor Sabotages based on Gameplay Abilities, created a Sabotage Framework that allowed designers and engineers to easily make sabotages while hiding the complexity of sabotage interruption (Summoned Meetings, Disconnections) handling. 
  • Implemented all three available impostor abilities (Peely Pary, Teleport Players and Disable Assignments)
  • Implemented Voting State’s different stages, from spacial targeting to a vote resolution system based on the design specification.
  • Iterated on the design of the initial version of Quick Chat to enhance the UX and provide more organic input methods (Like a physical map for location selection, a grid for player selection and a radial for message selection)
  • Closely collaborated with Design to implement most of the game HUD for Impostor Abilities, Voting, and base HUD
